Brackets
Dragsters, Funny Cars, Altereds and Sedans with supercharged V8 engines, 1/4 mile ET 6.5 sec to 7.99 sec.
Dragsters, Funny Cars, Altereds, Hot Rods and Sedans with 1/4 Mile ET 10.99 and quicker. Cars in this bracket are the best performance per dollar in all of ANDRA drag racing.
ANDRA bracket for all bikes from street ridden machines to supercharged competition only bikes, 11.99 ET and quicker.
Cars & Utes ET 10.99 sec and quicker, from modified street legal vehicles up to full chassis race cars.
Cars & Utes ET 11.00 to 12.999 sec. The entry level ANDRA bracket and usually one of the larger groups racing at ASID.
Cars & Utes 13.00 sec and slower. CADRA created this bracket to encourage racing in a safe, off-street venue – here at ASID! Enter your street car in this economical class and have some fun!
CADRA bracket for unmodified, street ridden bikes.
Half scale dragsters. 1/8th Mile competition only. Engines are 4 stroke, single cylinder side-valve engines.
For drivers between the ages of 13 and 16 years, limited to ET no quicker than 7.90 seconds and Top Speed no faster than 89.99 mph (136kph).
For drivers between the ages of 13 and 16 years, limited to ET no quicker than 8.5 seconds and Top Speed no faster than 80 mph (128kph).
For drivers between the ages of 8 and 10 years, limited to ET no quicker than 11.90 seconds.
Glossary
Racer completes the 1/4 mile distance quicker than the predicted Elapsed Time “Dial In” – Disqualified!
Spinning the tyres – heats them up to improve traction at the start – usually for racing slicks – lots of tyre smoke!
A racer gets a solo pass due to an odd number of competitors – an automatic and easy win.
Red light at the bottom of the Christmas Tree – lights up if racer leaves too early or is otherwise disqualified
In front of the start line, it holds 2 sets of lights to guide racers to the start position and signal the race start
Racers predict their ET for entry into the race computer in Handicap Races – not used in “Heads Up” racing
The time in seconds that the racer completes the distance from the start to the 1/4 or 1/8 mile finish.
The race computer uses Dial Ins to stagger starts so that faster/slower racers arrive at the finish line at the same time
The computer starts both racers at the same time
As the racer slowly approaches the start line, the “pre-stage” light at the top of the Tree comes on.
When the racer is on the start line, the “stage” light on the Tree comes on – racers must not roll past this point!
The time it takes for the racer to leave the line after the green light – a perfect RT at ASID is .000 sec
