BREAKOUT
Racer completes the 1/4 mile distance quicker than the predicted Elapsed Time “Dial In" - Disqualified!
BURNOUT
Spinning the tyres - heats them up to improve traction at the start - usually for racing slicks – lots of tyre smoke!
BYE RUN
A racer gets a solo pass due to an odd number of competitors - an automatic and easy win.
CHERRY
Red light at the bottom of the Christmas Tree - lights up if racer leaves too early or is otherwise disqualified
CHRISTMAS TREE
In front of the start line, it holds 2 sets of lights to guide racers to the start position and signal the race start
DIAL IN
Racers predict their ET for entry into the race computer in Handicap Races - not used in "Heads Up" racing
Elapsed Time (ET)
The time in seconds that the racer completes the distance from the start to the 1/4 or 1/8 mile finish.
HANDICAP
The race computer uses Dial Ins to stagger starts so that faster/slower racers arrive at the finish line at the same time
HEADS UP
The computer starts both racers at the same time
PRE-STAGE
As the racer slowly approaches the start line, the “pre-stage" light at the top of the Tree comes on.
STAGE
When the racer is on the start line, the “stage" light on the Tree comes on – racers must not roll past this point!
REACTION TIME (RT)
The time it takes for the racer to leave the line after the green light - a perfect RT at ASID is .000 sec
